I've been getting a lot of requests from followers to get a heads up on pieces before they reach the store, so here goes ~ sneak peak of the black highboy dresser I finished tonight.
I had a lot of fun distressing this one.
I learned how to do this reading Guide to Furniture Finishes.
For less than the cost of a gallon of paint, you too can learn to get this look.
We just dropped this dresser off to our booth at Not So Shabby Antiques and Fine Furniture in Zeeland, MI

Beautiful piece. You cannot beat black. And, hey, I've already purchased the book and it is reaaaally good......so much good instruction.
ReplyDeleteI've just become your most recent follower, so please, please come visit me and maybe you'll decide to follow back. THANKS.
Thanx for following Candy! I love the book too. Painting black has always been a little more challenging for me; I'm so used to using different paints. There are so many ways to do furniture and I love experimenting with different techniques. I'll pop by and check it out:)
DeleteHi Shelly;
ReplyDeleteI have been unable to send you a direct email through your blog...not sure why it won't allow me to. Is there a direct email that I can use other than through your blog to send you some photos of two dressers that I'm interested in hiring you to paint and wax for me?
Thank you!

Love your style and you are such a talented artist!!! Thanks for popping by my blog and commenting on my "zinc" table--if you make one I'd *love* to see it:)
ReplyDeleteThanx Michelle! When I do one, I will. It might be a while, I'm so busy right now I can't even see straight - lol! Take Care, Shelly
DeleteGorgeous dresser, so very pretty. But then you always do such great work. Thanks for sharing your creative inspiration at Sunday's Best.

ReplyDeleteDid you use Annie Sloan chalk paint for this piece?
ReplyDeleteNo, this piece was painted in an acrylic latex paint by Sherwin Williams.
